yeah, that mismatched vaccine last year was just spiffy.  ::)  i came down with something (not The Flu--they did a swab--but some other virus) that had me in bed for 5 days. (right after a con, oddly enough...  :P ) i can't even remember the last time i spent five days in bed sick.)

It's fine to get vaccinated for the flu now. I encourage everyone to do so. But it takes at least 2 weeks to take effect, maybe 6-8 weeks.  so a vaccine now won't protect you for the Con. And while influenza circulates year round, the odds of being exposed to true influenza this time of year is extremely low.   You will need the flu vaccine for December-April.

The last 2 years the vaccine did not match up well the the viral strain circulating in North America.

the live virus nasal vaccine/ FluMist has been off the market but is supposed to be back this year.

Randal- I also prescribe a specific type of cough syrup.  doctors orders

Its too early for flu shots. immunity wanes as the season goes on. Get it too early and if the back end of the season is particularly bad then you may have increased chance of getting the flu. It still wont be as bad but even a "light" case of the flu is tough.
OTC wellness stuff is a waste of money. No robust and reputable studies support its use. You do get to pee out several dollars worth of vitamins though. Best protection is constant hand washing, cover coughs/sneezes, hand sanitizer, eat decent and actually sleep. Barring those things GOOD LUCK!

The Govt loves you and wants you to be healthy Rondal. They need you to be healthy to pay your taxes. NOW GET BACK TO WORK SLACKER!
No they don't!!!! It's how they cull the population and keep big pharma in business!!! (Adjust tin foil hat) They give you cancer and autism and the die-a-beetus and flying ghona-rona-cachis!!!!

I was with you right up to the point that where you said "eat decent and actually sleep".....  this is not the correct way to do con.   I instead opt for a simple 1-a-day type multivitamin and imbibing copious amounts of a specific antiseptic liquid.

Tuesday to Tuesday sounds perfect. Sadly it will be awhile before we're able to pull that off. I think we came in on Wednesday last year or the year before and I found myself a bit wore out by Saturday. Gotta learn to pace the partying.  ;)
