borrowed from DragonCons live journal page:

http://www.ajc.com/news/new-bridge-closes-downtown-335070.html

Update to that:  Includes from where at the Hyatt to the Marriott it will be built with the architeracts rendering.

Erected from the bar level at the Hyatt Regency, this new overpass will attach to the first floor of the Marriott Marquis, above lobby level. Entire article can be found here:

Hey that's very cool.  It will make walking between the hotels easier and I'm sure the local traffic will appreciate it.

It should at the very least make navigating easier.  From what I understand it will be like the new connection from the Marriott to the Hilton, no chairlifts involved.

Oh, I'm super excited about this.  Especially with how hot it can be some years, it'll be nice to move through the big 3 hotels in the AC.

That is huge... will making getting back and forth a lot easier... and should make it easier for Dragon*Con to keep out people who have not bought a badge.

I don't really see how that is going to help DragonCon keep out non badge holders out, since almost all of the hotel areas are not DCon exclusive areas (the lobbys, bar areas, restaurants, elevators, etc.  These are public areas, and DCon doesn't have the authority to restrict non badge holders from entering them.

Also, upon reviewing the plans I found online, it seems that the lobby of the Hyatt (to include the bar area, PERKS, the kafe) will be undergoing renovations and upgrades.

The street access at this point is one after a certain time of day they only allow badged people in (or people who at least present a room card).  I met some people last year who said they never pay for a Dragon*Con badge and just slip through with the waves of people at that entrance.  I thought it was kinda shady myself.

Hmmnn.... that is a bummer... having construction in the middle of the con sucks.

From my readings of all the specs I've seen everything should be done, god willing and mother nature cooperating, by the 1st of July.  There is a girl that posts on DCons LJ, that works in the peachtree center, or close enough by that she said she would try and get some pictures up of progress.  It will probably only be the bridge, since anyone thats attend in the last five years remembers all the construction going on at the Marriott.  I'll probably make a post of DCs LJ page in about a month seeing if I can get any updates on the progress in the lobby area of the Hyatt and will repost here.

We've got JordanCon to go to next month, maybe we might be able to stop by and take a quick gander and maybe take some pictures.  But can't guarantee that we can do that.  Unfortunately for us, our two main contacts at the hotel no longer work there so I can't call them and get updates.

You know, I know someone who went to a lawyer convention or some such there about a month ago, I'll ask him.

Super exited!
I don't know about y'all, but I always thought those steep Hyatt stairs were dangerous.
Especially in costume!

I will see what I can do.  Do not hold me to anything, but I will try and get some shots.

To be sure about that.  I remember 3 years ago, we had to help the dude that does the dragon cosutme down those stairs.  I took 4 of us to help get his down safely.  I have this thing about needing to see the steps I am traversing whether in costume or not.
