I happened by this little ditty on a track director's homepage. Please tell me it isn't true.

Do not procrastinate this year

Pre reg is running really high compared to last year. So DragonCon is considering a

membership cap. This would mean that there would be NO onsite registration. So if you know

for sure you're planning to come, be sure to get your badge now.

I really hope that this is a rumor, because you and I both know that on-site registration is a piece of cake compared to the pre-reg line that forms on Thursday.

My wife and I were able to buy our badges in about 30-40 minutes on Thursday afternoon; sure, it cost a little more, but the alternative is to save a little money and lose a lot of time.

From what I heard this concept has been discussed privately before.

They are always looking at ways to improve the registration process and knowing ahead of time how many people are coming would help greatly.

Not saying that I'm in favor of having no on site registration but at some point I suspect they will need to limit registrations and if that's the case then they will likely sell out in advance much like Comic Con does so this might be their way of getting folks used to that.

I don't have any inside info on this.  Just throwing out some thoughts.
