Closing ceremony
« on: September 05, 2016, 04:04:34 PM »
Crappy connectivity in here

77,000 ppl

Comfortable with that

Over a hundred grand to charity

Next years badge prices go up in two weeks

Possibility of a Thursday day badge

Streaming subscription will be back up in the store in a few days

Request for more newbie tours

They are going to work on more training for volunteers

Eta:  phone died.  More training for the volunteers will be an attempt to make the training uniform, which is currently difficult because so many volunteers are out of state and can't make all the meetings.  Computers were mentioned.

Thanks for the update. Hard to believe we were up to 77,000 this year. It didn't feel like it most of the time.

Yeah, we felt like it wasn't as crowded.  I suspect that it's more use of AmericaMart and more badge enforcement at the hotels during the day.  I think the badge checks keep the Sat parade watchers out of the hotels.

Went the dealers hall 3 times, and wasn't crushed.

We (evilroy and I) are looking forward to attending next year, had to give this year a miss.  Thanks for update!  We read that the americas mart was overcrowded so makes sense that helped congestion elsewhere.

I left the comics alley by way of the back of the first floor of the vendors; squeezed my way out alongside the wall.  Never felt compelled to go back there again.  They REALLY have trouble with the concept that there are umpteen doors to that building; open more than a couple of them, please. Getting in and out was a royal PITA.  Fortunately there should be no more track programming there--the hilton paid for the Mart space for trek when they had to boot them out of the hilton.
