Never been to dragon*con - NEED HELP!
« on: August 30, 2009, 09:36:27 PM »
My wife and two boys want to go to DragonCon 09 this year on Saturday.  My little one is 2 and I don't want to stand in line with a 2 year old for 2-3 hours.  Can I go Friday and pay for Friday and Saturday so we don't have to wait in line?  If not, what time do I need to go on Saturday to make the most of the day? Or can I stand in line and get memberships for me and my wife? I've seen pictures of the lines from the previous years and it looks bad. Real bad.

Thanks for the help!

I'll try to give you some idea, but its been a while since I've been - if I make a mistake someone will correct me.

First you can't buy a two-day pass before Sunday.  Daily passes are available but only available that day.  On Saturday you can buy a three-day for the rest of the Con for $75.

At-the-Door Memberships

4 Day (Friday–Monday): $100
3 Day (Saturday, Sunday, Monday–Available for Purchase on Saturday Only): $75
2 Day (Sunday, Monday–Available for Purchase on Sunday Only): $50
Friday Only: $35
Saturday Only: $50
Sunday Only: $35
Monday Only: $25

Children under the age of seven are free unless you wish to make use of the day care facilities, then they need a badge.

You can get a badge for someone else - here is what you need to present:

- a signed note from the other person
- their ID/license
- a registraton form for them

I think that's it, but if not just check back and someone else will chime in with anything I've missed.

As for how long it will take - I'm told that with pre-registration being so popular that the at-the-door line is often smaller than the pre-reg.  And I wonder about how the hard economic times will affect walk-in participation.  But there is no way to be sure so best to be prepared.

Remember registration is at the Sheraton this year.

Check the website for more detailed information.

Have fun, maybe we'll see you there.
