Post by: Canuckianchick on September 08, 2017, 12:55:24 PM
Hey all!  I hope that everyone  had an awesome Con :)  I am curious to know what was your highlight?

Photo with Matt Smith was mine :)

Went to a fan discussion for 'People of Earth' the moderators didn't show up.  Myself and two others volunteered to run the panel so it wasn't cancelled.  Too funny, it was just a small group of 12 or so and we just talked about the show for an hour.  Hahaha

same thing happened at a hacking panel i went to; elonka asked if anyone in the audience had experience with this stuff, and when two guys raised their hands she said, "get up here." it was a very good panel. :)

Taking part in the parade. Absolutely fantastic response from the crowds.

Something like, "ethical hacking: mr robot and scorpion." (And the 2 guys are/were sysop-types.)

The ride in the bouncing elevator with screaming drunk girls and pondering how long I would potentially be stuck with them.  Oh wait, you said BEST moment.  Getting to see all of our friends of course :)  The hubby lived in FL for a long time before moving to AL to be with me so DC is one of the few places we get to see a lot of them at one time without a trip back to visit.  Also, we had extremely good luck getting into main programming panels this year, which we don't normally try to attend as many.  We were one of the last 100 to get into Matt Smith and were literally in the last row for Nathan.  I also made my husband wait 90 minutes to get into the Alton Brown panel which was completely worth it and we managed to make a Jewell Staite and Lucifer panel.

Its a 3 way tie between the Spectrum Party, where I met some new friends and just let loose and didnt have to think about anything or the Monday night post con dump party where we got moved from the Hilton 5th floor lobby to the crystal ballroom instead of getting broken up. Got to hang out with new friends and old and it was just super relaxed. Also loved hanging out with Laura on Thursday, playing a drinking game with her roommates and just getting to be silly.

Overall I love the crowds, the panels, love the feel of con, but this year with my grandma being sick during con I found that I just preferred the low key things a bit more. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next one!
