Transferring membership
« on: June 23, 2009, 09:49:08 AM »

Does anyone know how long it takes for the D*C people to transfer membership to another person?

Thanks

I have never done it, or known anyone who has done it, but I believe you just let them know (and get confirmation in writing) and then when you pick up the badge, they may ask for a photocopy of the original person's license or something.

Since they don't put the sticker with your name on the badge until you are standing in front of them, I would be surprised if there was a long lead time required.

Thanks for the answer.  I might just have to eat the cost and not worry about it.  Sounds like transferring is more involved than people would want to do.  Oh well.

From:
http://www.dragoncon.org/members.php#Refund

Refund/Transfer Policy

We do not offer refunds for memberships. If you can't attend Dragon*Con after you've pre-registered you may transfer your membership to another person. This notice of transfer must be in writing and have the signatures of both the original member and the new member; click here for the .pdf Adobe Acrobat version.

There will be a $20 transfer fee.

We'd prefer to receive these in advance, but we know that sometimes things crop up on short notice. Therefore, we will accept membership transfers at-the-door; please see our "Solutions" Desk in the registration area. Also, Eternal Memberships are not transferable.

Please note that memberships cannot be transferred forward to the following year.

So it may not be that much of a hassle anyway.  Just fill out the form, and do the swap with the person who is taking from from you (for whatever you sell it for).  I know a lot of people are willing to buy a last second badge if it will save them $20.

I've been away from the forum for a while now and have been trying my best to catch up on the postings...BUT.. I am going to end up having an extra ticket that I'd be willing to transfer if someone was in need.  Just hit me up at trumpt007@yahoo.com or on here and we'll work it out.  Had someone back out on going, just glad they did it now, rather than later.
