Hi I have not been to DC for over 20 years. I'm coming with my daughter and  my girlfriend and her daughter. We're staying at the omni hotel. How far is it to the con? How safe is it to walk? I'm concerned for our teenage girls.

Omni to con probably takes at least 15 minutes if you're going at a leisurely pace. While I would say it's safe at most hours, I would be hesitant and paranoid doing it after dark. Best option is probably to Uber, way cheaper than a cab.

is Uber OK down there? up here in DC we've been having instances of Uber drivers abducting/assaulting passengers. (i mean, the cab drivers do that too, but Uber drivers seem to do it more often.)

We stayed at the Omni last year.  The route we took is right through the Olympic park, which took us about 15 minutes to make it to the con. It's relatively populated all hours of the day and into the early/mid evening along that route.  However if it's very late I would suggest you all make any trips to and from the hotel room as a group. T'is a bit of a hike.

Kind of an old topic and I'm sure the OP got their answer by now, but I'll respond if it will help someone else.

There are two Holiday Inns within walking distance. There's the one on Andrew Young and the one on Cone Street. I stayed at the one on Cone and am staying there again this year. Once you turn the corner off Peachtree to head over to Cone it can seem a little sketchy and there's hardly anyone down there at night, but I didn't have any problem. I'd recommend staying in a group though, regardless of where you walk around down there at night. Having something hanging off your belt that resembles a combat knife with a 9" blade, prop or real, doesn't hurt either.

I only saw the bus a couple times when I was leaving and returning to the hotel, but I don't really know what the schedule was.

Hi everyone! I was wondering if the Fairfield inn on peachtree street is a safe place to walk from.

Also, I have a ticket for the aquarium party, and was wondering if It's safe to walk from the regency to the aquarium.

This is my first time at a convention alone and my first time at dragoncon! So excited!! Thank you!!!

Does any know or have a good estimate for walk time and how safe it is in the wee hours to or from the Crowne Plaza?

Ok I am going to assume you are talking about Crowne Plaza Midtown. It is ~1 mile from con so good job on that. It's a very short marta ride but depending on your definition of "wee hours" Marta closes around 11-midnight.

It is a very straight shot up west peachtree and it is well lit but still don't travel ALONE.

Vayliya, thanks for the info pardon me for not being clear which Crowne Plaza. Yes Midtown I believe it use to be the Melia. Wee hours as I interpret them are the ones between midnight and dawn.
