Welcome to DCF, Jotale.  DragonCon is...yeah...pretty big :)  You'll find a lot of good info here, but if you don't find an answer to something, just post!

Member Kevin in particular goes out of his way to help DC newbies...here's an example:  http://dragonconforums.org/f-a-q-and-newbie-area/newbie-walking-tours-and-newbie-qa-panels-at-con/

Welcome aboard!  :)

Welcome to the forum.  How big are you trying to spread your wings?  There is a lot to do so I would suggest that if you are planning on going for many years  pick just a couple of things to do each year. That way you get the stuff done you want to and you are not overwhelm by the amount of awesome things to do.

the schedule is posted a few weeks in advance; take some time to go through it and see what you'd like to do, then just play it by ear when you get there.  ;D

Hello and welcome! Glad to see you found us - because we are awesome and otherwise you'd be missing out ;) lol

I was a newbie last year, and let me say, the advice gave above is 100% correct. Look through the schedule, decide what you might like to do , but then sorta play it by ear. I utilized the DragonCon app - and just added everything I thought I might like to do, even if they overlapped, and then at con, when I was looking for something to do (which wasnt too often funny enough) I'd go there, and figure out what was the closest to me at that time.

If you have one specific thing/panel/etc you want to go to, make sure you get there early. Last year I went to the Star Wars Episode 7 panel, it was the only panel I made it to, and I got there an hour and a half early. Id say a good half of line didnt get in at all. The Patrick Stewart panel last year stretched around the hotels 2 times I think.

Also! Try to make it to our meet and greet Thursday and if your of age the forum party that weekend (date/times tbd). If you'd like to talk to some of us before hand we will be doing a countdown to dragoncon weekly skype chat in August (info to be posted soon.) - you should think about joining us!
