Some items I've brought after wishing I had them in previous years:- Your own mini-fridge. If you just bring it for one year, you've already broken even as opposed to paying the host hotels. I believe all of them charge for it at this point... unless you tell them you medically need one.

I think at this point most don't care, we just wheel in a cooler that we fill with ice.
