Consuite
« on: August 06, 2014, 03:53:05 PM »
I just wanted to mention Consuite.  Not many newbies I talk to know about it.  It is open 24 hours a day the whole Con.  They have food that goes pretty quick and refreshments.  They normally have a Pepsi soda machine and plenty of ice.  It is located in the Hyatt on the second floor.  I always find myself there at night when I want to grab a snack but don't want to head back to my room.  There is also movies playing in two different rooms so you can chill while you eat and drink.

What about you?  Do you go to Consuite or do you avoid it?

They actually have a website as well.  Who knew?

I keep hearing about the mythical Consuite.  I am going to try to visit it this year just to see it for myself.

Oh, are the really obsessed with Spam?  I keep hearing about Spam and the Consuite.

Great! Now we have to kill you.....

First Rule of Con Suite is; Don't talk about Con Suite!

It took me 7 years to finally step inside.....make sure you check it out...and don't forget to tell the volunteers you appreciate them!

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll let my group know to look for it if they get light-headed and need a quick bite or drink. This is a great service these people provide, I'll try and swing by to thank them even if I don't get anything/they're out of stuff.

Last year was the first year I managed to find it. It's a magical place, like Tahiti.

Mike: Drinking heavily the night before.

Ooops!  Sorry!  Hopefully I will be forgiven.  It took me many years to step inside as well.  I always thank the volunteers.  They are great!

It is good, and a bit of a crap shoot in terms of what they have... Sometimes crazy good, sometimes little more than condiments. Do not plan to make this your primary means of sustenance, but it is nice.

And they have a giant Monty Python-esque themed sign in homage to spam.

If nothing else it's a great place to stop for some drinks. Also a good spot just hanging out on the ledge just outside the Consuite. Great for people watching when the Hyatt lobby is buzzing.

I always hit the Consuite.  The Consuite is often the hydration/ caffieine I use in between drinks. And has Voidhawk has alluded to, I mix grain alcohol frequently and liberally.

I also use it as a midnight snack after the food court has closed.  you can't make a meal out of it but expect nachos, PBJs, muffins, that sort of thing.

One year they had energy drinks.

The movies and the guys that run it are entertaining.

The Dragon Con Consuite I feel is well done relative the size the Con has grown over the years and to other conventions.

I love the con suite and Tony the guy who runs it is quite funny last year in my evil queen he kneeled down and kissed my hand. I was so in awe but like everyone who has been in the con suite will say it's a perfect place to chill and get snacks. It's on my list of places to visit this year :)

That sounds pretty perfect actually, gonna have to make a point of dropping by at least a couple times during the weekend to restore my energy level LOL! :D

And that's exactly why it's there Mel.  Lots of people come to CON sleeping 10 to a room with 20 bucks in their pocket. There is a need for the suite. It's a tradition to keep us going even if we have spent all our money.

This is my first year going to D*C and Conduits seems like something I will definitely have to check out.
