Twins' Dragon Con photos
« on: September 04, 2014, 10:39:48 PM »
Mel and I finally got through all our photos!! It was pretty torturous - can't believe it was over so fast! We have a ton of parade photos and a bunch of Warehouse 13 (went to 2 panels for that) and lots of cosplay and other scattered fun  ;D

Made it public so hopefully y'all should be able to see it!

Great pics. Which hotel was that you stayed in near the airport? Rooms look nice.
I once thought I was an immortal Goa'uld, but as it turned out I'm just a confused mortal.

Thanks!! We stayed at the Sheraton Gateway Atlanta Airport - the rooms were very nice (or at least our room was)! :D http://www.sheratonatlantaairport.com/ Plus, the beds are heaven - we wanted to take them home with us LOL

... also, even being next the the airport, we had no trouble sleeping because the glass on the windows was so thick you couldn't hear any of the planes taking off or landing (or the large motorcycle gathering downstairs)!

You guys took the Marta in, right?  How long did that take?

Yeah, we did ;) We had to wait for the airport shuttle each time, of course, but once we picked that up, it took about 15 mins to get from the front door of the hotel to actually being on a train at Airport station. From there, it was a quick 20 minute trip into the city! We usually tried to leave an hour to get into the city just in case the airport shuttle was behind and we never ran into any trouble!  :D

.. we also made sure to only ride twice a day (instead of lots of back and forth) and carried everything we needed for the day in our large messenger bags! Not a bad solution on a tight budget (considering it only cost us $70/night + $6/day parking to stay there).

I really enjoyed looking at your parade pictures. A very different perspective being that high up. If I had only been wearing a flamboyant hat, I probably could have picked myself out from one of the pics.  ;) I knew it was super packed, but I guess looking at your aerial shots made it really sink in just how packed it really was.

Thanks so much!! Yes it was super packed and we had a delay on the MARTA that caused us to arrive too close to the parade start time, so the only place left to go was Up!!  It actually was a pretty good place to watch it from, aside from the hot sun beating down on the face of the garage, but there were breezes so it was tolerable and it was a fun view!!

thanks for checking out our photos  ;D +1

Thanks for the +1!

And we got to the parade an hour and a half early and people were already lined up three rows deep! I'm not sure how early you have to get there to get a front row spot. I think experiencing the parade up close and in person was totally worth being on my feet for 2 1/2 hours in the hot sun becoming way more intimate than I ever wanted with the chest of the well-endowed lady on my left, the backpack of the tall girl behind me, and the hair of the children in front me; but I never want to do it again. Once was enough, and from now on I plan on watching it on tv in a nice air conditioned room. Or maybe from a window booth at the Hard Rock Cafe like some really smart people I saw.

And speaking of the MARTA, I'm pretty sure I saw you two at Peachtree Station waiting on your train Sunday night!

Very much agreed - we probably won't be trying to make it to see the parade in person anytime in the near future either!  ;) .... and yes, you likely did see us - it probably would've been sometime between 10:30 and 11:00 pm!
