That one was definitely a great choice.  :)
"It takes a soldier who knows his orders to walk the walk I'm supposed to walk.  And love like I'm not scared. Give when it's not fair.  Live life for another.  Take time for a brother.  Fight for the weak ones.  Speak out for freedom.  Find faith in the battle.  Stand tall and above it all."

I was hoping someone on this forum could give me some info. I`ve been going to DC for years and want to go as Jayne this year but have never really looked at accessories available from the vendors at DC. Can anyone tell me if someone will have alot of Firefly (Jayne Cobb) items such as, the Blue Sun symbol shirt or replicas of his weapons, gloves or wrist band. I already have the orange hat and will probably find the boots, pants and belt but needed to know my options for waiting to buy at the Con. Thanks to anyone wants to help, Rob.

Generally there will be a booth with those shirts....HOWEVER I say generally. The dealer hall is enormous so I believe there is like a 90% chance one of the shirt shops should at least have a Blue Sun shirt...but I don't have a dealer list on me and I cannot review the people setting up :(
Outlook is very good there will be one, but not guaranteed ><

Most big cons will have blue sun, and maybe the "starting to damage my calm" shirt. I made my own with fabric paint (see pic). You'd have to be very fast to do that and have it dry in time (2days+) though, but you could try a tshirt transfer otherwise. The cuff you can get sometimes at leather/steampunk/armor vendors, though I got mine cheap from china / ebay. Watch out there though, the first one stiffed me so I had to escalate through paypal for the refund. The rest of items I don't think you'd find, but you can make:
The boot covers I made of black fabric, nylon webbing and plastic buckles. The gloves I used fabric paint and leather dye to change the colour of hardware store gloves. The submachine gun's nearly dollar store just painted black, the pistol I needed to add a fair bit of wood filler/plastic bits/glue to reshape. The knife is layers of wood glued together, and the holster is made from leather (it's easier than you think to work with but you need a good source of leather, and a bit more time).

I prefer the orange Fighting Elves shirt that I wore for my Jayne costume last year. Jayne is a pretty popular costume, but I wanted to be different. Lots of people seem to wear the Blue Sun t-shirt so I opted for the orange one. Besides that, it matches my hat better, which was also custom made by a friend, with more muted colors rather than the extremely bright yellow and orange most people wear. Just gives it a more dingy look as if it were worn all the time.

Debating if I want too wear the costume again this year. My feet were roasting in those boots last year.

Very cool....thank you for the input and the time you took doing it. I have a Codename Vera army shirt Im taking just in case. I was really hoping to get at least the pistol replica at DragonCon, as I will have most of the clothing (and a goatee  hehe). I plan on getting a real bowie knife (I know it must be sheathed) and get someone to burn the star on the leather and try to modify some gloves. If most of this doesn't come together, I will wait till next year. Im always waiting till the last minute <doh>.

Solo: No prob. Come to the shoot on friday (1-2pm in Ivey Park ) if you want to see / chat about how I made mine. Anyone else is welcome too - we're shooting in 3D and it's open to all costumes, but I'll be as Jane, so if folks want to get some together in Firefly gear that would be great timing. BTW - didn't check the rules, but most cons I've been to won't let you in with a metal knife, sheathed or otherwise.

Buzz: Yeah, more unique is nice.

Unfortunately,I wont get there till late Friday. I picked up the pants today(both white and light tan) they look good but the rest is going to be so-so. Combat boots(all black but may try to add a little tan), gloves (there again all black but may try to modify) and a Belt. I went to a few places but they had no holster or leg strap or boot covers that were close. I found a knife with the ideal holster but the knife isn't close. I looked at the rules and it does say that bladed weapons are allowed but must be sheathed at all times. I will check at the badge pick up before wearing. I may try to tackle making a gun tonight. I don't want to look like crap but if I get close enough I will still wear all this, even though it isn't complete. It will still be fun. Again, thanks for all the help. Rob

Va/Jo - looking good.

Solo - no prob. Bummer to miss you at the shoot but if you happen to see me (not too many Bofur / Jon snow with a 3d lens), say hi and I can show you some pics of what I did if it helps. Pistols a little hard to match in a few days, but you can paint the dollar store submachinegun to a near perfect match in no time. Yeah, I just saw the sheathed thing- should be ok. Still good to make a wood backup sometime for other cons orbit you ever want to pose with it out.

Correction - even sheathed, I got stopped by Hyatt security for my knife, but they let me in because it was wooden. I guess they,re not all up to speed on the con rules or have their own.
